For 52 years Kiln Group was an international insurance and reinsurance company offering a wide portfolio of specialist risks.
It merged with another Brandex client Tokio Marine Europe in November 2014 to form Tokio Marine Kiln.
Kiln Group managed five syndicates within the Lloyd's insurance market and, in terms of capacity, was one of the largest agencies trading in Lloyd's.
2012 was a landmark year for Kiln as it celebrated the 50th anniversary of the company’s formation.
To mark such a momentous occasion Kiln embarked on a series of events and initiatives and Brandex was lucky to have been with them every step of the way.
The key projects which formed part of the overall celebrations were:
- Anniversary book
- Corporate film
- Commemorative Clock
- Sponsorship of the Kiln Sierra Leone Marathon
Brandex Client Services Director Judith Cousins said: “This was an exciting and hugely challenging brief from Kiln. The whole project took months of planning and execution and involved almost everyone at the agency at some point. We were delighted with the outcomes."
To record the 50 years Kiln commissioned Brandex to produce a book which would track defining moments in the history of the company.
We managed the whole project from commissioning the author to sourcing photographs, and from designing the book and managing the print in the Far East. Copies of the book were given to guests at Kiln’s celebratory dinner in July.
The production of a corporate film saw another big project take shape over the first six months of the year.
Just short of nine minutes the film, ‘Celebrating 50 years of Kiln,’ explores the key business relationships Kiln enjoys and employs high production values which saw a multi-location shoot in Derbyshire, Rotterdam and London.

Brandex was also asked to oversee the design and build of a commemorative clock which graced the reception of Kiln’s head office in the city of London and now sits in the reception of Tokio Marine Kiln's new head office in the Walkie Talkie building at 20 Fenchurch Street.
The clock was made by Dent of London, world famous as the makers of Big Ben and the platform clock for the new Eurostar terminal at St Pancras station, London. The clock features Kiln’s values and the design elements and materials were all chosen to reflect Kiln’s brand and ethos.
Kiln Sierra Leone Marathon
To commemorate its 50th anniversary, Kiln decided to sponsor a groundbreaking marathon in Makeni, Sierra Leone, on 9 June 2012, in support of British charity Street Child of Sierra Leone.
The marathon was the flagship event of SCoSL's Golden Jubilee Appeal bid to raise a million pounds to help the country's children off the streets and into education. Kiln’s title sponsorship generated enormous support from the insurance/financial markets, raising £380,000 for the charity.
The money will help enable SCoSL to build 50 schools, reunite 1,000 children with their families, and support 5,000 impoverished street children through education.
