Female composure in the face of adversity has become increasingly visible throughout 2020 and into 2021.
As we continue to live amid a global pandemic, many women attempt to balance the responsibilities that come with maintaining a household, forging a career, and looking after their own wellbeing as part of daily life.
What would Brandex say to women considering a career in marketing?
Go for it! We believe women should not be prevented from entering and progressing in any career. And learn as much as you can. Marketing is ever evolving, something you learnt last month or last year can so quickly become irrelevant.
In what way do women in marketing get different treatment from men?
Marketing is one of the more inclusive industries in general; women are well-represented across the general marketing workforce in particular. We should all challenge behaviours that mean women are overlooked, interrupted or disregarded and raise awareness against bias. Here at Brandex women hold key positions across the group from management to design to client services.
What does IWD mean to you?
It feels especially apt to celebrate women from all walks of life on IWD this year. Research shows that COVID-19 has impacted working women more than any other group.
IWD is all about celebrating how far society has come, while still striving for parity and raising awareness of the fact that not all women are equal in every walk of life. Negative mindsets and unconscious bias are still prevalent in society.
It also reminds us that there is still so much to do in establishing gender equality and disseminating the belief that all people are equal regardless of gender, race, age, background, religion or sexuality. We hope for a future where people are regarded and treated as equals.
