Autodesk and BAC Mono
Pursuing singularity
Our sister film company Rockstar Films has been working on a series of customer films for Autodesk, a global leader in 3D design, engineering and entertainment software.
Autodesk approached Rockstar to craft a film that would highlight and showcase their software products used within the process of creating the incredible and unique supercar, the BAC Mono.
Rockstar has been a long-term user of Autodesk’s Smoke suite during production.
Autodesk gave film director, Rockstar’s Eugene Riecansky, an open brief and total free rein over the style, content and approach.

What had initially been planned as a two day factory shoot, quickly turned into a full three-month process across four locations including Silverstone, Snowdon and an ice lake in Sweden.
Eugene said “It was essential to show how impactful the Autodesk products were within the process and also detail the level which potential customers could attain when using the software, whilst keeping a low key presence throughout.
“The film had to illustrate the Mono's beautiful power and demonstrate the uncompromising nature of its quality and construction.
“The whole car from concept to production, became a metaphor for how the cutting edge software from Autodesk could power an idea to fruition and this was captured within the film.”

He added: “In usual Rockstar fashion, we approached the film from a different angle by creating the epic soundtrack first, before the edit process began. This ensured perfect alliance between sound and visual.
“From the film's inception every shot, piece of sound design and music were sculpted together to create a coherent work reflecting the very essence of Mono.”
The BAC Mono is manufactured by the Briggs Automotive Company in Liverpool. BAC founder Ian Briggs said: “Award winning! - knew it would be from you lads but you've done yourselves, BAC and Autodesk proud on this - well done to you and all your team, a new benchmark."
"I think that is brilliant. I am so impressed, seriously so good,” said Heather Glendining, Marketing Manager, Autodesk Manufacturing.
Production has already begun on the next film.
